Emanuela Friscioni

Emanuela Friscioni was born in Cantu, Italy in 1975, and started studying piano at the age of five.  She obtained her Diploma in 1997 at the “Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory” in Como, with full marks.  She did advanced work with important musicians including Annamaria Pennella, Paul Badura-Skoda, Aldo Ciccolini, and Bruno Canino.  Ms. Friscioni has participated in national and international piano competitions winning many first prizes.

Since her debut at the age of nine, Ms. Friscioni has played solo recitals and concertos throughout Italy.  Her most recent performances took place in Switzerland (Lugano), France (Paris – Salle Cortot), as well as a benefit performance in Cleveland.  She recently performed the world premiere of the contemporary work: “Come ti chiami?” for piano, orchestra, and chorus, composed by Maestro A. M. Zamburlini with the “Orchestra del Conservatorio de Como”.  As professor of piano, her students have gained national prominence in Italy.

Ms. Friscioni performs chamber music in trio and quartet, as well as piano duets with her husband, Antonio Pompa-Baldi.  Their “Four-hands” performances have earned them many prizes, and rave reviews.  They founded the “International Piano Academy Annamaria Pennella” in L’Aquila.
