I found that I was happiest playing the game when I just ignored all the buzzing and lasers and just focused on my own game of Tetris. Each level also has a 3-star objective system, which you earn a star for completing each of 3 different objectives in a level. Some of these objectives can be tough, but I found myself replaying some levels to attempt to get that 3rd star. It took me about 6 hours to complete story mode, but I didn’t 3-star every level. You level up as you play, but outside of the number next to your name going higher, and the icon representing you changing at certain tiers, the progression isn’t particularly rewarding. The overall scope of the game is limited, but it’s engaging enough to keep you coming back for more. The random nature of who you are competing against leads to frustrating rounds where you get unfairly decimated within the first few minutes. An overwhelming number of lines can get dropped on you at once, and even if you were playing well, it can knock you out. Thankfully, jumping into a new round is relatively quick, so you won’t feel the sting of defeat too long.
